Metal vs polycarbonate window well covers in Knoxville, TN

Metal covers

Often chosen for strength and longevity under foot traffic or heavy leaf loads common in Knoxville oak and pine yards. Some styles are grated; others are solid. Finish and corrosion resistance matter in East Tennessee humidity.

Polycarbonate / clear covers

Let more daylight into basement windows and show when debris piles up. UV-rated sheets matter under Smokies-edge sun. Still need a secure fit so wind and storms don’t lift them.
